As much as I hate to admit it, good contractors are hard to come by. And when we find one, we hang on to them with kung fu grips of death! There are just some things that we think about as designers that contractors don't and vice versa. Certainly there are many things I don't think about construction-wise that a contractor does. And finding a great relationship with a good contractor where attention to detail is incredibly important is just as valuable as gold!
Recently, I was hired by a new client and her house has some amazing design aspects. But then there are a few minor things that leave you scratching your head. Small nuances are not so small at all when they cause continued frustration. So here, I am kindly showing you things to think about during your new construction or remodeling project!

The materials, including the marble countertop and chrome fixtures, in the master bathroom are incredibly rich! But notice how far away the sinks are placed from the edge of the countertop. Too far in my opinion; makes for an awkward time brushing your teeth, especially if you are on the shorter side.

Again, a beautiful little area that was converted into a wet bar. Rich materials, beautiful color palette. But the contractor left this one drawer untrimmed! And of course its the piece you see every time you walk by!
Attention to detail is such an important aspect to interior design and very easily looked over. My green philosophy- do it right the first time and then you'll never have to redo it again!
