Us Houstonians are lucky to live in a place that allows us to spend so much time outside; with mild springs and falls and powerful ceiling fans for the summers, outdoor kitchens are becoming more and more prevalent in our homes. I think that's pretty awesome! Outdoor kitchens don't need all of the bells and whistles of our indoor kitchens, but they can help us throw pool parties, host barbecues, or just create a family meal under the setting sun.

Using almost indestructible and easy to maintain materials make outdoor living even more appealing. Stone cabinet surrounds, stainless steal appliances and cabinetry and granite counter tops not only create a beautiful design but also one you can actually hose off.
When designing an outdoor kitchen, consider the following:
*Purchase and designate a set of dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils specifically for the outdoors. No need to carry heavy plates in and out of the house every time you want to enjoy a meal outside.
*A grill with a side burner, a mini fridge, and sink are the three key ingredients to an outdoor kitchen. There also no harm in adding a dishwasher.
*Ceiling fans are a must. And if you want, you can pump some of your AC out to your outdoor area!
*Place your lighting on dimmers; mood lighting is even more excellent outdoors. Outdoor fireplaces are excellent sources for ambient lighting as well as being great for roasting marshmallows.
