Interior design, albeit to popular belief, is not always about interiors. Because of our knowledge of color palettes, light and material selections, interior designers are often hired to help with exterior elevations and design. The exterior of a structure should be just as inviting and beautiful as the interior and making it so is not always easy. The exterior is, without question, the first thing people see. The facade and landscaping of a home, office building or restaurant should reflect and offer a glimpse of what the interior is like.
Earlier this year, I was hired to help a couple with the redesign of their exterior facade. Because of weathering damage, the shell of the house was drastically damaged and instead of a quick fix, they decided to update and drastically alter the outside look of their home. By choosing a more contemporary mix of materials and colors, the exterior became a reflection of the style- developed over a long period of time- on the interior.

Before!

After!

Special thanks to Wayne Ball with Lone Star Building and Construction. This project is a beautiful example of fine craftsmanship and unique design!
