If you're planning a remodel or building a new home - pay attention to where your electrical outlets lie. One of the biggest eyesores of a bathroom (or kitchen - but we'll get to that later) is a 2" x 4" electrical switch or outlet right smack-dab in the middle of your beautiful tile. There are numerous places you can hide your switches - but the layout has to be planned well before you start tiling.

*Hide your switches/outlets on a pony wall. Pony walls are used for a variety of reasons - to add some privacy to an area or define an area without visually blocking the view of a space. Placing your electrical on the hidden side of the pony wall is an easy way to leave it accessible but out of site from the best views of a room.

*Place your electrical on the inside of your vanity knee space. For bathrooms that have a vanity knee space, hiding the electrical inside the knee space still allows you to plug in your hair-dryer and curling iron without having to see the outlets on your beautiful back-splash.
*One other secret place to hide your electrical is inside of your cabinets/drawers. To keep clutter at a minimum, you can have electrical outlets inside of drawers or cabinets and store the items that require power (hair-dryer, electric toothbrush, etc) in those cabinets.
