Giant Feet, A Market Tale

True Story:

Attending Market, whether in High Point, NC or in Dallas, you are sure to find something you just can't live without.  Something you have to purchase on-the-spot, and somehow shove into your carry-on suitcase.  After discovering a new antiques shop in High Point, NC., my assistant Erika and I found these fun, giant marble feet (3 and 4 times the size of a normal human foot).  They were once a part of beautiful Roman statues, and now all that remains are their sandaled feet.

Now, since they were indeed marble, these suckers were heavy.  They were too big to fit in our bags and the cost to ship them home was going to be more than their actual price.  After carefully considering how difficult it would be to carry these back with us on the place, we devised a plan to have one of our furniture reps, who lives in the Houston area, drive them back in his little SUV he happened to have with him.  Fortunately, he said 'yes.' Unfortunately, his car was not close to the antiques store and he was working.

Little Erika is surprisingly strong for her size, but she's not that strong while myself and my other assistant Amber are freakishly strong, (just ask the moving men at Baltodano).  Handing off some lightweight stuff to Erika, Amber and I lugged these giant feet several blocks to our rep's car.  It was 60 degrees out and we were huffing and puffing and sweating.

But two weeks later, our precious feet had been on a lovely vacation to Florida with our rep and his wife and then they finally made it to our office.

Here's my marble foot- I tend to use mine as a door stop while Erika likes to hide hers around her house for her family to find.

Naturally, a few months later, look what pops up in the "Real Simple" magazine!

Moral of the story: You have to trust us! We know a little something about style!
