GHBA at Lighting Unlimited
The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) hosted another excellent networking event Tuesday night, this time at Lighting Unlimited. These networking events are not only great social outings but are wonderful places for people in all aspects of the design industry to get together and talk about what we know....building and design.
Lighting Unlimited's showroom was an impressive collection of lighting spanning all styles and types. We were welcome to walk around and admire the hundreds of chandeliers, pendants, sconces, etc. decorating their walls and ceilings. But it wasn't all about the crystals; we were treated to a demonstration on the new LED recessed can lights and lighting tape.
LED lights, although more expensive initially, can save a person thousands of dollars over a lifetime. Lighting Unlimited showed us that if a kitchen retrofitted 10 incandescent bulbs with LED replacements, they would save over $5000 dollars over a 20 year period! And that savings doesn't even include the savings on electricity. The LED can light requires only 13 watts compared to an incandescent at 60 watts!
Isn't technology amazing!
