A great way to personalize your house, giving it more personality is to add a family crest. This could be one found while digging up the family history or by creating your own that fits the personalities in the family.
It is a family crest that I had made for a game room and to go over the wine room in my clients' house. The crest encompasses all the things that makes up the family. They included a square for each person in the house, their family dogs, and tennis.
Here is another example of a crest being used. This is by Marcus Design. She created a 3D crest with a distressed look to create a focal point over the fireplace.
