Backsplash Beauties!
Your back splash doesn't have to be your kitchen floor material slapped on your walls, it can be a beautiful design call out and add some unique touches to your space. Here are some ideas....

1. Niche or call out behind your stove. Create a 'frame' of tile behind your stove and if you have the wall depth- add a small niche. Instead of using a unique tile all over your backsplash- you can highlight it behind your stove and create a stunning focal point at the same time.

2. Use your slab material. Classic kitchens often use the counter slab material as the back splash material as well. Marbles are especially beautiful with their natural striations and color variations.

3. Change your angle. Subway tile doesn't have to be installed in a horizontal direction; change your back splash by laying your tile at various angles. A subway pattern can be laid vertically, at a 45 degree angle or in a herringbone pattern. Changing your angle is a great way to update a classic material.

4. Mirrors aren't only for the bathroom. For small kitchens, mirrored back splashes can help make the space seem larger. Mirrors can be antiqued to look old and worn and won't look like a dance studio on your wall.
