One of my favorite tricks is to bring a room to life with fresh flowers...they don't have to cost a fortune though.  I thought this article from Southern Living did a good job at explaining how to put your own bouquet together. If you have fresh flowers out of your garden that's great, if not grocery stores offer inexpensive flowers bouquets.

Sheers camouflage a bad view, control harsh natural light, and provide privacy from close neighbors.  I also use sheers in a variety of rooms to create some ambiance.         Sheers can be the only window treatment you use or they can be the back drop to more fabulous curtains.  It all depends on the look you are going for.
