Bed Making: 101

After rolling out of bed the other day and while I was beginning to make my bed (because I make my bed every day!), I realized that one of the most simplistic tasks can really be quite complicated.   I really believe that slipping into a crisp, nicely made bed is one of the most relaxing things in the world. That's not the only benefit to making your bed, as Martha Stewart once said even if your room is a disaster, make your bed and your room will look clean.

So here are some easy tips towards making your bed a personal relaxation zone:

*Avoid death by pillows! We have some really beautiful pillows that add some sparkle and pizazz to our spaces- but avoid too many pillows- placing them and taking them off becomes a tedious task everyday.

*Press your sheets!  Or at least your pillow cases.  It mind sound a little crazy but think of how good it feels to rest your head on a nice hotels crisp pillow case.  Good, right? Not only will your bed look crisp and clean, it will feel great too!

*Sun dry your sheets!  Yes, it might seem country...but we are in Texas!  Letting the sun and fresh air dry your sheets creates soft, fresh smelling linens.

*Get a coverlet that has capped corners!  For those of you who don't like the difficulty of tucking in those pesky awkward corners, a coverlet that has capped corners makes it a cinch.

*Spray your sheets with linen spray!  Lavender is my favorite but any spray is amazing to soak in as your head hits the pillow for the night.

*Flip covers down to expose your sheets!  Flipping the top portion of your covers down to about 1/3 of your bed (exposing your sheets) is an easy way to add some fluff, texture, and color to your bed.

We've finally taken the plnuge and taken the bed guard off our nearly 3 year old son's bed he's only fallen out once in a week and loves the fact that he's sleeping in a big boy's bed !

I've had that happen too. Very scary. Smart to alywas wear closed shoes, long pants. I used to wear gloves too, when I was new, but they just allowed more bad things to happen, so I've stopped. What I hate is the telltale Tink! that means the start of something breaking when you shift some glass you never know for sure where or what! Joy

never hold glass over your head to look through it to a light socure.never hold a sheet of glass by the sides. instead hold it from the top/bottom.a flick with a finger won't work on the 1/2 or 3/4 glass sheets i work with.
