Be: A Mentor

Mentorship

What you give, you get.  It's just as simple as that.  And mentoring - the sharing of your time, talent, experiences, gifts, with another for their benefit - is one of the best gifts you could ever give or receive.

My professional mentor, Peggy Fuller, ASID, founder of By Design Interiors, is a spring of talent, experience and generosity. Her openness in sharing all she’s learned in her 20+ years in the Interior Design business has shortened my by learning curve by decades.

There is a vast difference between the necessary technical skills that are well taught in design school and how ‘real life’ design works and functions. This you can only learn by doing.

Talent is a gift- either you have it or you don’t. But talent needs nurturing. It needs space to grow and expand, the freedom to fail and in doing so learn and expand even farther.

Thank you Peggy for recognizing my talent, for the constantly offering of yourself, for your enthusiasm and love of design and for giving me a place to flourish.

I hope you enjoyed this small potion of Peggy’s outstandingly lovely and technically excellent design work.

Be Inspired!

PS…. I want to also thank my design school professors, Susan Ouren, Melissa Cox and Linda Ferguson of the Interior Design program at Kingwood College I use what I learned from you daily!
